Welcome to the Comprehensive Research Group website for adults ages 18 to 65 who may be interested in participating in a medical research study evaluating a currently marketed treatment for cold symptoms.

Right now, Comprehensive Research Group is seeking participants for a research study evaluating a currently marketed treatment of cold symptoms. If you are 18 to 65 years old and have a cough, hoarseness, nasal drainage, nasal congestion, sneezing, or a scratchy or sore throat that just started, please read on to learn more about participating in our study.

Research Study for Adults Ages 18 to 65 with Common Cold Symptoms That Started Recently

According to the National Institutes of Health, colds are the most common form of human illness, with adults having 2 to 4 colds a year on average.

While common colds, or simply “colds,” are usually harmless and go away on their own, the symptoms of a cold such as a cough, sore throat, and a runny nose can be very bothersome, and a severe cold can make people feel weak and ill. The worst symptoms are usually over within a week, but it can take longer for the symptoms to go away completely.

Cold Study

This research study will evaluate a currently available zinc treatment to see if and how well it may reduce the symptoms and length of a cold. It will be compared against a placebo, a substance that looks like the drug being evaluated but that has no active ingredients. Neither study participants nor the study doctor and staff will know which treatment an individual participant has been given.

During this study, participants will visit the study center twice over 2 weeks, take the study drug 7 times a day at home, and will fill out symptom questionnaires on an electronic device twice a day. Compensation is available to study participants fulfilling applicable requirements.

Medical research is required for new medical advances, and medical research would not be possible without volunteer study participants. This is why we hope you will provide your contact information to learn more.

Minimum requirements to participate:

* Be 18 to 65 years of age

* Have at least some of the following symptoms that began recently: cough, hoarseness, nasal drainage, nasal congestion, scratchy throat, sore throat (including pain when swallowing), and/or sneezing

* Have not yet taken any medication or treatment for your symptoms

* Can visit the study site within 24 hours

This is not a complete list of requirements for participation. If you provide us with your contact information, we will promptly reach out to provide you with more information about our research study.

Compensation

Participants who satisfy applicable requirements will be compensated for their time and expenses. The amount of compensation available and the applicable requirements will be discussed by the staff at the research center.

What should I do now?

If you are interested in participating or just wish to learn more, please provide your contact information. Our goal is to contact all people who submit a contact form within two business days after submission.

Research

Doctors and scientists are constantly discovering new medications and devices that may help prevent, detect, diagnose, control, and treat illnesses. A research study or clinical trial is a scientific study that tests these new discoveries. Research studies depend upon the participation of volunteers.

Why Participate?

There is no guarantee that participants will receive any benefit from participating in this study. However, this research study may yield new information that could benefit people in the future by helping to answer questions about the effectiveness and safety of the investigational treatment.

Voluntary Participation and Informed Consent

Participation in a research study is completely voluntary. In all research studies, qualified potential participants are first informed about the research study in detail. After receiving this information, all participants must give their consent in writing to proceed. Some research studies involve more tests and doctor visits than the participant would normally have for an illness or condition.

Health Insurance and Participation Costs

Health Insurance is NOT required to participate.

You will not be charged for the investigational treatment, study-related procedures and tests, or study visits.

Can I Participate in One of These Research Studies?

Before participating in a research study, volunteers must meet specific requirements. These requirements are based on various factors, such as age, medical history, current health status, current medications, and allergies. The circumstances that allow a person to participate are called Inclusion Criteria and those that prevent participation are called Exclusion Criteria. These requirements are used to ensure the accuracy of the study as well as the safety of all participants. We will not know whether you satisfy all study requirements until we speak with you and, if appropriate, complete a screening assessment at our facilities.
